First and Last – In the Words of Jesus

The Bible is the most amazing Book ever written. That’s because it was written by the most amazing Person Who ever lived! I love to look at the Truths in the Bible from many directions. One of them is the first and last thing a person says in different circumstances. It tells us a lot about what’s important. Here’s an example from Jesus Christ. I believe every Word that Jesus spoke was considered, planned and determined before He created the universe and carry the impact of all eternity as He spoke them and we read them.

Jesus’ first recorded words in the Gospels

“Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

Jesus’ first recorded words to Satan during the Lord’s testing in the desert

“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

Jesus’ last recorded words on the Cross

“It is finished!”

Jesus’ first recorded words the day He rose from the dead

“Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

Jesus’ last recorded words the day He rose from the dead

“Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus’ first words to the Apostle John in the Revelation

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last.”

Jesus’ last words to the Apostle John in the Revelation

“Surely I am coming quickly.”

Jesus’ first words to the seven churches in the Revelation

“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:  I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.”

Jesus’ last words to the seven churches in the Revelation

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

(NKJV)

I pray this brief study about the first and last words of Jesus Christ is a blessing to you. There is no other Voice I want to hear more than that of our dear Lord and Savior.
