Grace has been a major theme of the Christian Church for centuries. Christians have lived it, preached it, taught it, shared it, written it and sung it. Here are dozens of hymns about the Grace of God from the past few centuries. We pray the words will encourage and lift you up as you “look up” to see Jesus, The Author of Grace.
“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:16-17
Amazing Grace
“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, andgrace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed. Thru many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun; We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we first begun.”
Newton & Walker
Grace for Every Need
“There is joy divine that is ever mine since the Lord has forgiven me; and I work and sing for my blessed King, by His grace I have been made free. He will ever keep with the tempests sweep, And hath grace for each trying hour; So I go in love to this Friend above, Ever trusting His grace and pow’r. O this wondrous grace is for all the race, It is boundless and full and free; And I trust and cling to my blessed King Who by grace now is keeping me. There is grace for each need, Grace full, grace free, Saving grace yes, indeed, Flowing from the throne above; Grace to hide all my sin, All, yes, grace free, Pardon all may win, Grace in His perfect love.”
J.M. Henson & Whitworth
Saved By Grace
“Some day the silver cord will break, and I no more as now shall sing; But, O the joy when I shall wake within the palace of the King! And I shall see Him face to face, and tell the story, Saved by grace; and I shall see Him face to face, And tell the story, Saved by grace.”
Crosby & Stebbins
More About Jesus
“More about Jesus I would know, more of His grace to others show; More of His saving fullness see, more of His love, who died for me. More, more about Jesus, More, more about Jesus; More of His saving fullness see, more of His love, who died for me.”
Hewitt & Sweney
His Blood is on My Soul

Lord Lead Me On
“When the way seems dark and long, as I pass amid the throng, Hold to my hand, dear Lord I pray; Give me grace to shout and shine, ever in the light divine, Lord lead me on from day to day. Lord lead me on, from day to day, I want to walk the holy way; Tho friends forsake, me all alone, I ask Thee Lord to lead me on.”
Easterling
I’m Going That Way
“I’ve heard of a land of joy and peace and wonderful light, a beautiful place of mansions fair and skies ever bright, Where all who believe the Savior dear, forever shall stay, and having been saved by grace divine, I’m going that way. I’m going that way; I’m going that way, and Jesus the Savior I adore is with me each day; I’m clinging to Him, and never to stray, Yes, singing His praises all day long, I’m going that way.”
Rowe & Register
The Lord Is With Me
“I live in a land of sorrow while toiling in this earthly race, True joy is awaiting yonder prepared for all the saved by grace; The Savior who bought my pardon has gone those mansions to prepare, some happy day He will call me the glory of that home to share. I know the Lord is with me each moment of the day, I know that He will lead me, Tho dark may be the way; I know that in each trial, He travels on before, And in His love there’s safety, I could not ask for more.”
Presley & Rippetoe
Sweet Hour of Prayer
“Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care, And bids me, at my Father’s throne, Make all my wants and wishes known; In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! Thy wings shall my petition bear, To Him whose truth and righteousness, engage the waiting souls to bless; And since He bids me seek His face, believe His word and trust His grace.”
Walford & Bradbury
My Faith Looks Up to Thee
“My faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine; Now hear me while I pray, Take all my sins away; O let me from this day be wholly Thine! May Thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire; As Thou hast died for me, O may my love to Thee, Pure, warm and changeless be, A living fire!”

Wonderful Grace of Jesus
“Wonderful grace of Jesus, Greater than all my sin; How shall my tongue describe it, Where shall its praise begin? Taking away my burden, Setting my spirit free; For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me. Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching to all the lost; By it I have been pardoned, Saved to the uttermost, Chains have been torn asunder, Giving me liberty; For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me. Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching the most defiled, By its transforming power, Making him God’s dear child, Purchasing peace and heaven, For all eternity; And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me. Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Deeper than the mighty rolling sea, Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, All sufficient grace for even me, Broader than the scope of my transgressions, Greater far than all my sin and shame, O magnify the precious name of Jesus, Praise His name!”
Lillenas

Gonna sit down and rest a li’l while.”

Watts & Harrison
Hi Mark, Mike McGlathery here. I looked through the list of songs with interest and joy in remembering many of the words of grace in them. I looked for “No Other Plea” without finding it. I wonder if I am just unaware of some reason that it is not appropriate, or is it just that there is not room for every song. Either way, I like the list.
Hi, Mike! No Other Plea is a wonderful song. I didn’t include it in the Grace Hymns compilation because the verses and chorus I’ve seen didn’t have the word “grace” in them. Do you know of a version with “grace” included in a verse?
Thanks for your comments! So glad to hear from you.
All I can truly say is a THANK YOU that is eternally long. Wonderful compilation.
Thanks
I’m wracking my brain to think of a hymn that the chorus begins with “something grace”. It’s not amazing grace. The last verse talks about being in heaven. 🤦♀️
The chorus notes get quite high if that helps.
Hi, Lea. Is the song you’re thinking about “Wonderful Grace of Jesus”?
