Teaching Notes are Bible studies we taught before GraceLife Ministries began publishing articles online in 1995. Some were presented as sermons, others as group studies.

Our hope is that these older studies will be a blessing to you in your life and ministry. Please use them in any way God leads you.

These teaching notes are from a study about Success.

[These notes are from a study taught more than 40 years ago. The notes are in outline form.]

Success is not measured by what we are. It is measured by what we are compared to what we could be.

Success is not measured by what we do. It is measured by what we do compared to what we could be doing.

Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. (AMP)

Romans 8:29 tells us that God’s ultimate design for our lives is to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. (AMP)

Jesus Christ wants to relive His life through us! Philippians 1:21 (AMP)

Imagine the potential of such a life! Jesus wants to think His thoughts through our minds. He wants to speak His words through our mouths. He wants to love others through our hearts.

How can we be conformed to the image of Christ? How can Christ relive His life through us?

Colossians 3:1-5 (AMP)

Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God].”

  1. We must first be conformed to Christ’s Spirit. (raised with Christ)
  2. Second, we must be conformed to Christ’s Mind. (set your affection on things above)
  3. Third, we must be conformed to Christ’s Body. (mortify your members)
