Teaching Notes are Bible studies we taught before GraceLife Ministries began publishing articles online in 1995. Some were presented as sermons, others as group studies.
Our hope is that these older studies will be a blessing to you in your life and ministry. Please use them in any way God leads you.
These teaching notes are from a study from Luke 15.
[These notes are from a study taught more than 40 years ago. The notes are in outline form.]
I. What to confess — vss. 11-16, 18
“I will say…I have sinned.” We should confess our sins. Not our inabilities. Not our problems. Not our hangups. The only thing God wants us to confess is our sin.
II. When to confess — v. 17
“And when he came to himself…” This translates from the Greek as, “And, having come to his senses…” We should confess our sins when we come to our senses and realize that we have sinned.
III. How to confess — vss. 18-21
A. Make a wise decision and follow it with the appropriate action – v. 18 “I will go”
B. Acknowledge your sin against God and man – vs. 18 “I have sinned against heaven and thee”
C. Seek to right all wrongs, even at your own expense. v. 19 “make me a servant”
D. Confront the one whom you have wronged. v. 21 “Father, I have sinned”
E. Prepare for that confrontation. vss. 18-19, 21
