Teaching Notes are Bible studies we taught before GraceLife Ministries began publishing articles online in 1995. Some were presented as sermons, others as group studies.
Our hope is that these older studies will be a blessing to you in your life and ministry. Please use them in any way God leads you.
These teaching notes are from a study about success in life.
[These notes are from a study taught more than 40 years ago. The notes are in outline form.]
James 1:25 – “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
Obedience brings blessings!
1 Samuel 12:15 – “But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers.”
Disobedience brings conflict!
Let me give you some examples of this from the Bible, characters you are familiar with from Scripture. What happened to these people when they obeyed and when they disobeyed?
Adam and Eve Cain and Abel Saul Annanias and Saphira David
Paul Noah Noah’s sons Solomon John Abraham Lot
Job Mary Magdalene Issac Daniel Lazarus the beggar
Jacob Esau Jonah Rich young ruler Moses Israel
Peter Pharisee and Publican Samson Judas Jesus Christ
(Share personal testimony of obedience and disobedience)
Examples from young people’s lives – impact of obedience and disobedience:
- God
- Parents
- Friends
- Dating
- School
- Work
- Health
- Safety
Invitation: How many of you would say there are or have been areas of your life where you showed disobedience and are now reaping conflict? (challenge to principle of obedience)
How many of you want to change these conflicts into blessings through the principle of obedience to God and His Word?
(Pray for them, then speak to unsaved about their need for salvation)
[Thank you for reading these teaching notes from more than 40 years ago. My prayer is they will be a blessing to you and your ministry.]
